Hollybriar Farm Arabian Horses...

In the early 1970's I had the great good fortune to obtain Ibn Selmian, the last foal of *Selmian (Naseem - Selima) the Roger Selby import from Crabbet stud. Ibn Selmian was a wonderful horse and was my best buddy until his death in his 29th year.

My breeding program is based on the preservation of *Selmian and Ibn Selmian blood, and other sources of the very successful blending of Naseem and the Selma mare line. *Selmian had limited use at stud. He was a high school graduation present from Daniel Gainey to his son, and the Gainey program was concentrating on Ferzon.

When I was looking for more sources of Naseem and Selima, without sacrificing athletic ability, bone, and breed type I found what I was looking for in the Russian breeding program. The Crabbet influence is strong in some of these horses, and the athleticism can be maintained without losing the wonderful temperament.

A straight Russian stallion, Vasiliev, is now standing at Hollybriar Farm, and has been bred to the straight Russian mare Luna RB, and Hollybriar Chloe, who is linebred on Ibn Selmian.

Hollybriar Arabians are proving themselves in endurance racing, which I feel is the ultimate test of Arabian breeding stock after all. And breed type? Well, I believe that life is too short to live with an ugly horse
